September 20 / 08 - Breakfast Meeting
Steve Pitt was born in Weston, Ontario on October 15th, 1954 - the night Hurricane Hazel devastated Southern Ontario. His fascination with the storm led to his first book for children, Rain Tonight. Steve's work has appeared in many Canadian newspapers and magazines, including Canadian Health, where he is the food editor. He's published six children's books and his first YA book is scheduled for publication in December.

Octobet 18 / 08 - Breakfast Meeting
Founder of Humber College's distinguished creative writing and comedy programs, Joe Kertes is Humber's Dean of Creative and Performing Arts and is a recipient of numerous awards for teaching and innovation. His first novel, Winter Tulips, won the Stephen Leacock Award for Humour. Boardwalk, his second novel, and two children's books, The Gift and The Red Corduroy Shirt met with critical acclaim. His most recent book is Gratitude, set in Hungary, 1944.

November 15 / 08 - Breakfast Meeting
Author Terry Fallis describes the unconventional route he took to getting published. Using new media (blogging, podcasting, Facebook) to drive old media (his novel) Terry's efforts were rewarded earlier this year when The Best Laid Plans won the prestigious 2008 Stephen Leacock Medal for Humour. McClelland & Stewart will publish TBLP in October 2008.

After an impressive stint in politics, Terry worked for a major PR firm and then, in 1995, co-founded Thornley Fallis, a full service communications consulting agency with offices in Ottawa and Toronto.
